A seminar on higher education in Australia was held at a city hotel in Dhaka recently. Australian Macquarie University organised its annual “Open Day” event, which was attended by students and parents.
The event was inaugurated by former acting chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Professor Dr Yusuf Ali Molla.
Referring to his experience of pursuing a PhD at Macquarie University, Yusuf Ali said that Australia is a preferred destination for Bangladeshi students because of its quality of education and academic environment.
At the event, Senior Director for South Asia of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Mustafizur Rahman, said events like the Macquarie University Open Day can help Bangladeshi students in their academic journey by highlighting various opportunities.
Macquarie University’s Director of International Recruitment, Tanveer Shaheed, said that Bangladeshi students have brought unique talent and diversity to their campus.
Macquarie University School of Computing Associate Professor Ansgar Fehnker, Senior Country Manager Alkayet Hossain, Regional Coordinator Md Majadul Alam, and other Bangladeshi representatives of Macquarie University were also present at the event.
