The GREAT Scholarship is a joint initiative of the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign and the British Council, delivered in partnership with participating higher education institutions across the United Kingdom. The programme offers financial support to international students pursuing one-year postgraduate taught courses.
Bangladesh is among the 18 eligible countries under the scheme. For the 2026–27 academic year, more than 140 GREAT Scholarships will be available across 60 universities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Each scholarship provides £10,000 towards tuition fees for selected postgraduate programmes at participating institutions. The scholarships are open to students enrolling in a wide range of disciplines offered by universities in the UK.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a valid passport, meet the English language requirements set by the respective UK higher education institution, and possess an undergraduate degree relevant to the chosen programme. In addition, GREAT scholars are expected to remain engaged with the British Council and their host institution and to act as ambassadors for the GREAT Scholarship scheme, in line with guidelines published on the British Council’s website.
Interested candidates are required to apply directly to their chosen university. Applicants should visit the university pages listed on the British Council website and follow the relevant links to apply for both admission and the GREAT Scholarship for the 2026–27 academic year.
